I still think it makes sense to update the other stuff -- e.g. nvm updates for compatibility, but I completely understand if Dell doesn't want to support a weird not-complete version update package from a QA point of view.
WebFor some USB issues, it typically comes down to having an incorrect version of the ASMedia USB controller driver installed (Windows update loves to replace this one). Check in device manager and the ASmedia USB 3.0 eXtensible host controller driver and root hub version should be 1.16.51.1. WebGo into the BIOS and uncheck "Always allow Dell docks" and check the "Devices approved by user" box. Fixes that shit right up, just need an admin to approve the devices once or else every boot will show messages in the bottom right at first login. Edit: This works for our XPS 9370 laptops. ymmv
WebDec 15, 2024 · The TB Controller disappears for the Device Manager. The TB UI is shown in the attachment and the Dock is unplugged. The Dock has to be unplugged when updating the firmware since the controller is on the computer. There is a specific order to how you install drivers and firmware. WebDec 8, 2024 · Updated all drivers and firmware on laptop to latest. Updated TB16 docking station to 1.0.2 without issue and can run again to see the dock info and re-run the firmware updates. Try to run the Dell Firmware Update Utility 1.0.4 and after about 7 seconds receive message of "Error: Failed to get dock information".
