Treat the bare metal braid as the black wire in the Jazz Bass wiring scheme above, and the wire inside the black inner insulation as the white wire in the diagram above. This is a typical mid 1960s Gibson EB-0 bass circuit, in every way but for one: the tone pot has a smaller value than the volume, at 250kΩ (part BA-811-1831 ), compared to the usual 500kΩ. This is contrary to the standard schematic, and the January 1965 parts list, both published by Gibson.
